In a month, we will leave Hong Kong behind and start a new chapter of our lives in Singapore. I will have to rename my blog! Why? So that Alex and Emilie can physically go to school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dans un mois, nous quitterons Hong Kong et commencerons un nouveau chapitre de notre vie \u00e0 Singapour. Je vais devoir renommer mon blog ! Pourquoi ? Pour qu’Alex et Emilie puissent physiquement aller \u00e0 l’\u00e9cole.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n We made up our mind in February, when all went to shit. We started exploring how to leave Hong Kong. Singapore and London were the two options. But we knew there was no chance for Sebastien to get a new position in London so moving there would have meant without him, at least at first. Singapore soon became the only viable option. We applied for schools in March and got a place for both kids in April. But it was very hard to get a positive answer from Sebastien\u2019s work. We finally had the green light at the beginning of May, 2 weeks ago. After all this uncertainty, it feels good to have a clear path ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nous avons pris notre d\u00e9cision en f\u00e9vrier, quand tout allait si mal ici (\u00e9coles ferm\u00e9es, restrictions dans tous les sens). Nous avons commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 explorer les diff\u00e9rentes options : Singapour, Paris, Londres. C\u2019\u00e9tait impossible que S\u00e9bastien obtienne un poste en Europe, et donc d\u00e9m\u00e9nager l\u00e0-bas aurait signifi\u00e9 partir sans lui, du moins au d\u00e9but. Du coup, Singapour est devenue la seule option viable. Nous avons postul\u00e9 pour des \u00e9coles en mars et avons obtenu une place pour les deux enfants en avril. Mais le travail de S\u00e9bastien a mis un temps fou \u00e0 se d\u00e9cider. Le feu vert est arriv\u00e9 d\u00e9but mai, il y a 2 semaines. Apr\u00e8s toute cette incertitude, cela fait du bien de savoir o\u00f9 nous allons.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I decided to concentrate on the positive things. We are going for 2 years and then we\u2019re back in London. I\u2019ve already done it, it cannot be worse (well, at least this time, there is no rug to pull off from under my feet!) The school we found for the children looks really good and I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll have a great time. We will be able to travel (to Europe and to the rest of Asia), and I already have my list of priority destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n J’ai d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de me concentrer sur les choses positives. Nous partons pour 2 ans puis nous revenons \u00e0 Londres. C\u2019est du d\u00e9j\u00e0 fait, \u00e7a ne peut pas \u00eatre pire (enfin, au moins cette fois, ma vie ne va pas etre chamboul\u00e9e compl\u00e8tement !) L’\u00e9cole que nous avons trouv\u00e9e pour les enfants a l’air vraiment bien et je suis s\u00fbre qu’ils y seront bien. Nous pourrons voyager (en Europe et dans le reste de l’Asie), et j’ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 ma liste de destinations \u00e0 faire en priorit\u00e9.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Saying good bye to Hong Kong will be difficult. It is strange to think that I will never come back here. I didn\u2019t really like the place the way I like London, but I am familiar with the city now. I love the view from our flat, the busy streets, the quirkiness of Hong Kong life. I didn\u2019t make many close friends, but I am going to miss them. Who knows if \/ when I\u2019ll see them again?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dire au revoir \u00e0 Hong Kong sera difficile. C’est \u00e9trange de penser que je ne reviendrai jamais ici. Je n’aimais pas vraiment l’endroit (en tout cas pas comme Londres), mais j\u2019y ai fait ma place, maintenant. J’aime la vue de notre appartement, les rues anim\u00e9es, l’excentricit\u00e9 de la vie hong-kongaise. Je ne me suis pas fait beaucoup de vrais amis, mais ils vont me manquer. Qui sait si\/quand je les reverrai ?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I have my bucket list of things that I want to do before leaving. Hopefully, you will have a few more posts with nice pictures before the end of June.
