The last time I wrote, I was in awe of the Singapore government for their planning of HDB. A few weeks later, I visited the Singapore City Gallery, which is the headquarter of the URA, the Urban Redevelopment Authority. If you want to know more about Singapore’s master plan in term of urbanisation, you are in the right place. It was a very interesting visit. And I must say that the government has very clever ideas to use the space to its best. It is also a very good way to do some propaganda (“Singapore is the best”) Although I do not agree with everything, it is definitely very impressive. They are working towards more sustainability and trying to make the city as beautiful as possible. The project to move the harbour area from its current location at the south of the island to the far west is a brilliant, and very costly, idea. It will free up a big area just next to the Marina Bay area. They already have many plans to build new residential areas with view to the sea. The new harbour is set to be technologically very advanced with everything done by machine. This will mean that business will be able to continue as usual if something like a pandemic happens again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La derni\u00e8re fois que j’ai \u00e9crit, j’\u00e9tais en admiration devant le gouvernement de Singapour pour sa planification des HDB. Quelques semaines plus tard, j\u2019ai visit\u00e9 la Singapore City Gallery, qui est le si\u00e8ge de l’URA, l’Urban Redevelopment Authority. Et je dois dire que le gouvernement a des id\u00e9es tr\u00e8s astucieuses pour utiliser au mieux l’espace. C’est aussi un tr\u00e8s bon moyen de faire de la propagande (“Singapour est le meilleur”) Bien que je ne sois pas d’accord avec tout, c’est d\u00e9finitivement tr\u00e8s impressionnant. Ils travaillent vers plus de durabilit\u00e9 et essaient de rendre la ville aussi belle que possible. Le projet de d\u00e9placer la zone portuaire de son emplacement actuel au sud de l’\u00eele vers l’extr\u00eame ouest est une id\u00e9e brillante et tr\u00e8s co\u00fbteuse. Il lib\u00e9rera une grande zone juste \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la zone de Marina Bay. Ils ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 de nombreux projets de construction de nouveaux quartiers r\u00e9sidentiels avec vue sur la mer. Le nouveau port devrait \u00eatre technologiquement tr\u00e8s avanc\u00e9, tout \u00e9tant fait automatiquement par des machines. Cela signifie que les affaires pourront continuer comme si de rien n\u2019\u00e9tait en cas de confinement par exemple.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I just wanted to comment a bit on the third picture. Basically, the concept is that if you need a trench for electric wires, then why not use it for something else? And so everything has multiple usages and it makes maintenance much more efficient. In the model, you can see how everything is designed from the solar panels that double up as a shading area to the underground utilities accessible from the MRT network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Je voulais juste commenter un peu la troisi\u00e8me photo. Alas! while I was cleaning it, the mandolin-type blade slipped and I cut my finger quite badly. I’m not squeamish, but even I could see that this was very deep. Result: 9 stitches and 3 weeks without doing the dishes \ud83d\ude42 Some people mentioned that I could have asked Sebastien nicely to do the dishes rather than cut my finger…<\/p>\n\n\n\n Je me suis offert quelques nouveaux appareils m\u00e9nagers, dont un tout nouveau robot mixer. H\u00e9las ! pendant que je le nettoyais, la lame de type mandoline a gliss\u00e9 et je me suis assez gravement coup\u00e9 le doigt. Je ne suis pas du genre \u00e0 tourner de l\u2019\u0153il \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re goutte de sang, mais l\u00e0, c’\u00e9tait quand m\u00eame assez profond. R\u00e9sultat : 9 points de suture et 3 semaines sans faire la vaisselle \ud83d\ude42 On m\u2019a fait remarquer que j’aurais pu demander gentiment \u00e0 S\u00e9bastien de faire la vaisselle plut\u00f4t que de me couper le doigt\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n As is our tradition, we celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary still wearing our wedding clothes.
