There was the French concert by the international stream. All classes from reception to year 6 sang 2 French songs. The quality was much better than I expected, thus I had a great time. Emilie’s class sang “Salade de Fruits” and “Armstrong”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La section internationale a organis\u00e9 un concert en fran\u00e7ais. Toutes les classes, de la r\u00e9ception \u00e0 la sixi\u00e8me ann\u00e9e, ont chant\u00e9 deux chansons fran\u00e7aises. La qualit\u00e9 \u00e9tait bien meilleure que ce \u00e0 quoi je m’attendais, et du coup j’ai pass\u00e9 un bon moment. La classe d\u2019Emilie a chant\u00e9 \u00abSalade de Fruits\u00bb et \u00abArmstrong\u00bb.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I met with Sarah and she showed me around the Peak. I had not been to these paths and I will be going back to explore a bit more. We went around the Peak, not just looking at the tourist panorama. I also discovered Victoria Peak Garden. It was originally the garden of the Mountain Lodge, one of the governor’s residences. The lodge has been demolished, but the garden remains. The day we went was very cloudy so our walk was foggy and eerie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Je suis all\u00e9e voir Sarah et nous avons fait une balade autour du Victoria Peak. Je ne connaissais pas ces chemins et je reviendrai pour explorer un peu plus. Nous avons contourn\u00e9 le Peak, sans s\u2019arr\u00eater au panorama touristique. J’ai aussi d\u00e9couvert Victoria Peak Garden. C\u2019\u00e9tait \u00e0 l\u2019origine le jardin du Mountain Lodge, l\u2019une des r\u00e9sidences du gouverneur. La loge a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9molie, mais le jardin reste. Le jour de notre promenade \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s brumeux, c\u2019\u00e9tait comme marcher dans les nuages.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday 5th was a bank holiday. Alex had been invited by a school friend to a couple of laser tag games followed by pizza. Very grown up, he took a taxi to come back home around 8 pm. The following day, he was invited to do some paddle with a friend. What a lucky chap!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Le vendredi 5 \u00e9tait un jour f\u00e9ri\u00e9. Alex a \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9 par un ami d\u2019\u00e9cole \u00e0 faire quelques parties de laser tag suivis de pizzas. Il prit un taxi pour rentrer \u00e0 la maison vers 20 heures comme un grand. Le lendemain, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9 \u00e0 faire du paddle avec un autre ami. Quel veinard !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunday morning, Emilie and Sebastien went to the cinema to watch Dumbo and we all met in Shek O’s big wave beach for a picnic. The beach was lovely, but the waves were not that big. We spent a few hours and went back home. You can check where Shek O is on the Geography<\/a> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dimanche matin, Emilie et S\u00e9bastien sont all\u00e9s au cin\u00e9ma voir Dumbo et nous nous sommes tous retrouv\u00e9s \u00e0 la plage de Big Waves de Shek O pour un pique-nique. La plage \u00e9tait belle, mais les vagues n’\u00e9taient pas si grandes. Nous avons pass\u00e9 quelques heures avant de rentrer. Vous pouvez voir o\u00f9 se trouve Shek O sur la page Geography<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Alex is getting a brand new air con as his old one had died… Management took it very seriously and the problem was fixed in 2 days!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Une nouvelle climatisation a \u00e9t\u00e9 install\u00e9e dans la chambre d\u2019Alex car l\u2019ancienne est tomb\u00e9e en panne\u2026 La maintenance a pris cela tr\u00e8s au s\u00e9rieux et le probl\u00e8me a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9solu en 2 jours !<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n The 11th, there was an “Art Walk” at Emilie’s school. All the classes created art work on the theme ‘Global Citizen’. That was very well done. I really apreciated the art work. Below are Emilie’s class creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Le 11, l\u2019\u00e9cole d\u2019Emilie a organis\u00e9 une exposition d\u2019art (Art Walk). Toutes les classes ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 des \u0153uvres d\u2019art sur le th\u00e8me \u00abcitoyen du monde\u00bb. C’\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s bien fait. J’ai vraiment appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 toutes les cr\u00e9ations. Ci-dessous, une partie des cr\u00e9ations de la classe d\u2019Emilie.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The school organised World Book Day on the 12th April. Kids could come dressed up as their favourite book characters. Emilie went as a musketeer, reusing the costume I made for Alex a couple years ago. Rather dashing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n La journ\u00e9e mondiale du livre a eu lieu le 12 avril. Les enfants pouvaient venir habill\u00e9s comme leurs personnages de livre pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s. Emilie y est all\u00e9e en mousquetaire, en r\u00e9utilisant le costume que j’avais confectionn\u00e9 pour Alex il y a quelques ann\u00e9es. Elle fait un beau mousquetaire !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n April means the pool reopens. We were there almost on the first day. But the water’s a bit chilly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n En avril, la piscine rouvre. Nous y \u00e9tions presque le premier jour. Mais l\u2019eau est un peu froide !<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n We went for a week in Sanya and came back for Easter. There was an easter egg hunt in the living room to make sure the eggs would not melt. During the second week of holiday, I signed the kids for a multiple martial arts class on Tuesday. What Emilie enjoyed most was punching her brother… Not exactly what I had in mind! I also found an allergy specialist for Alex and we met him. He ran a battery of test on Alex and we’re waiting for the results next month. I hope he will be able to suggest ways to desensitise him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nous sommes all\u00e9s passer une semaine \u00e0 Sanya et sommes revenus pour P\u00e2ques. Nous avons cherch\u00e9 les \u0153ufs de P\u00e2ques dans le salon pour \u00eatre s\u00fbrs qu\u2019ils ne fondraient pas. Pendant de la deuxi\u00e8me semaine de vacances, j’ai inscrit les enfants \u00e0 un cours d’arts martiaux le mardi. Ce qui a le plus plu \u00e0 Emilie, c’\u00e9tait de frapper son fr\u00e8re\u2026 Ce n’est pas exactement ce que j’avais en t\u00eate ! Nous sommes aussi all\u00e9s voir un allergologue pour Alex. Il a fait une batterie de tests sur Alex et nous attendons les r\u00e9sultats le mois prochain. J’esp\u00e8re qu’il sera capable de sugg\u00e9rer des moyens de le d\u00e9sensibiliser.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I’ve got a few funny pictures to finish off this post. First, Emilie showed Sebastien how to customise pictures on my phone. Something he didn’t know could be done! I managed to update the blog before going on holiday. After we came back from Sanya, there was another week of holiday so I didn’t get anytime to work on my projects. I have made no progress on my web designer training except for reading a book advised by the teacher called ‘Don’t make me think!’. Very interesting read about well designed (and not so well designed) websites, and the few tips you should follow to get a good design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Quant \u00e0 moi, je n\u2019ai rien fait pour moi. J’ai r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 mettre \u00e0 jour le blog avant de partir en vacances. Apr\u00e8s notre retour de Sanya, il restait une semaine de vacances et je n\u2019ai donc jamais pu travailler sur mes projets. Je n\u2019ai fait aucun progr\u00e8s dans ma formation de concepteur de sites Web, mise \u00e0 part la lecture d\u2019un livre conseill\u00e9 par le prof intitul\u00e9 \u00abDon\u2019t make me think ! (Ne me faites pas r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir). Livre int\u00e9ressant sur la conception de sites web qui d\u00e9crit bien ce qui marche et ne marche pas.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I also got an interview for a part-time practice manager for a medical practice. I didn’t get the job but it was good practice as I had not had interviews since 2000. It was also a good wake-up call as I realised I was not ready to go back to work. My target was to catch up with my pictures and I have not even done a year since we arrived in Hong Kong. It also made me realise that I was very disorganised and not really using my time very efficiently. Something else I must improve. I have set up a goal of finishing my web design training before going on holiday in July. So hopefully I can start working from September. This is going to be tough!<\/p>\n\n\n\n J’ai \u00e9galement eu un entretien d\u2019embauche pour une position de directeur de cabinet \u00e0 temps partiel pour un cabinet m\u00e9dical. Je n\u2019ai pas obtenu le poste, mais c\u2019\u00e9tait un bon exercise, car je n\u2019avais pas eu d\u2019etretien depuis 2000. \u00c7a m\u2019a fait r\u00e9aliser que je n\u2019\u00e9tais pas pr\u00eate \u00e0 retourner travailler. Mon objectif \u00e9tait de rattraper mon retard sur les photos et je n\u2019ai m\u00eame pas fait un an depuis notre arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 Hong Kong. Cela m’a aussi fait comprendre que j’\u00e9tais tr\u00e8s d\u00e9sorganis\u00e9e et que je n’utilisais pas mon temps efficacement. Quelque chose d’autre que je dois am\u00e9liorer. Je me suis fix\u00e9 comme objectif de terminer ma formation en conception Web avant de partir en vacances en juillet. Avec comme objectif de pouvoir commencer \u00e0 travailler \u00e0 partir de septembre.
