We now have a good routine. We get up in the morning between 8 and 9. We take our time to get ready and have breakfast. I do my stuff (I go shopping or tidy or other things) and the kids watch their screens. Then we have lunch. We always go out in the afternoon for a few hours. I always try to have a goal, even if it is going to get Alex’s stuff for the school. And we try to go to a new area in town. When we get back home, we go to the swimming pool, if it’s open. after that, we get ready for bed, prepare diner and wait for Sebastien to come back home to tell him all that we’ve done. Emilie goes to bed between 8.30 and 9. We generally play cards with Alex and Sebastien and Alex goes to bed between 9.30 and 10.<\/p>\n

Nos journ\u00e9es sont toutes un peu pareil, maintenant. Nous nous levons le matin entre 8 et 9 heures. Nous prenons notre temps pour nous pr\u00e9parer et prendre notre petit d\u00e9jeuner. Je fais mes petites affaires (je vais faire les courses ou bien je range ou je fais du sport, etc.) pendant que les enfants sont sur leurs \u00e9crans. Nous d\u00e9jeunons vers 13 h. Nous sortons toujours dans l’apr\u00e8s-midi pendant quelques heures. J’essaie toujours d’avoir un but, m\u00eame si ce n\u2019est qu\u2019aller acheter les fournitures scolaires d’Alex par exemple. Et nous essayons d’aller dans une nouvelle zone de la ville. De retour, nous allons \u00e0 la piscine si elle est ouverte. Apr\u00e8s cela, pyjama et pr\u00e9paration du d\u00eener, Nous et attendons S\u00e9bastien pour diner ensemble et lui raconter tout ce que nous avons fait. Emilie se couche entre 8h30 et 9h. S\u00e9bastien, Alex et moi jouons g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement aux cartes et Alex se couche entre 9h30 et 10h.<\/em><\/p>\n

There’s plenty of time during the day to chill and do our stuff. But there’s also plenty of time to get bored and sometimes, there’s tension between us 3. But I guess it’s normal when you live all together.<\/p>\n

Nous avons beaucoup de temps pendant la journ\u00e9e pour nous d\u00e9tendre. Mais il y a aussi beaucoup de temps pour nous ennuyer et parfois, l\u2019ambiance est \u00e9lectrique entre tous les 3. Mais je suppose que c’est normal quand on est constamment ensemble.<\/em><\/p>\n

On Monday, the sun was out so we went to Repulse Bay Beach. We also needed to get my glasses at Christophe’s. We hopped on a taxi to get there but the driver didn’t speak English at all and didn’t understand where we wanted to go. We thought we recognised Christophe’s building and told him to stop. But we were wrong and we were a bit lost. Fortunately, we were closed to the beach, so we went there. Alex and Emilie had a lot of fun in the waves. The beach was crowded with tourists. Coaches stop there all the time for tourists to take pictures. But we had a good time nonetheless. Emilie’s swimsuit was full of sand and that must have been really uncomfortable, especially as the sand is coarse on this beach. After that we took another taxi to get to Christophe’s but the driver was again not speaking English so we just let this one go and waited for a driver who could understand us. And we got home with my glasses in no time!<\/p>\n

Lundi, il faisait beau alors nous sommes all\u00e9s \u00e0 Repulse Bay Beach. Nous devions aussi aller chercher mes lunettes de vue chez Christophe. Nous avons saut\u00e9 dans un taxi pour y aller mais le chauffeur ne parlait pas du tout l’anglais et ne comprenait pas o\u00f9 nous voulions aller. Nous avons cru reconna\u00eetre le b\u00e2timent de Christophe et lui avons dit d’arr\u00eater. Malheureusement, nous nous \u00e9tions tromp\u00e9s et nous \u00e9tions un peu perdus. Heureusement, nous \u00e9tions pr\u00e8s de la plage. Alex et Emilie se sont bien amus\u00e9s dans les vagues. La plage \u00e9tait bond\u00e9e de touristes. Les autocars s’arr\u00eatent tout le temps pour que les touristes prennent des photos. Mais nous avons quand m\u00eame pass\u00e9 un bon moment. Le maillot de bain d’Emilie \u00e9tait plein de sable et \u00e7a devait \u00eatre vraiment inconfortable, d’autant plus que le sable est gros sur cette plage. Apr\u00e8s cela, nous avons pris un autre taxi pour nous rendre chez Christophe, mais le chauffeur ne parlait pas non plus anglais, alors nous l\u2019avons laiss\u00e9 partir et avons attendu un autre qui pouvait nous comprendre. Nous sommes rentr\u00e9s \u00e0 la maison avec mes lunettes en un rien de temps !<\/em><\/p>\n

On Monday evening, I also tried to make a Chinese stir fry with some rice noodles. We also bought some frozen dim sum (not exactly typical, but I can be sure there is nothing Alex cannot eat).<\/p>\n

Lundi soir, j’ai aussi essay\u00e9 de faire un recette chinoise avec des nouilles de riz. Nous avons \u00e9galement achet\u00e9 du dim sum (beignets \u00e0 la vapeur) surgel\u00e9s (pas exactement typique, mais au moins, je suis s\u00fbre qu’il n’y a rien qu\u2019Alex ne puisse pas manger).<\/em><\/p>\n

The result was mixed. I think I am missing a very important ingredient: soy sauce!<\/p>\n

 Ce n\u2019\u00e9tait pas terrible. Je crois qu\u2019il manquait un ingr\u00e9dient essentiel : la sauce soja !<\/em><\/p>\n

Tuesday, it was raining. We didn’t really want to go out. Besides, the swimming pool was closed due to thunderstorm warnings. We had to go out to get Alex’s HKID card. All residents aged 11 and over must have one. We had an appointment at 4 pm. I was extra cautious and we were 30 minutes early. So we had an ice cream at Mc Donald’s. I was impressed by the Hong Kong administration. We arrived at a desk 5 minutes early for our appointment (no queue). The man checked our paperwork and gave us a number. we waited about 20 minutes to be called at another desk. The lady checked our paperwork, took a picture of Alex and his fingerprints. Then we had to wait less than 10 minutes to see an immigration clerk who checked our paperwork and told us to come back get the card from the 28th August. All that took less than an hour.<\/p>\n

Mardi, il pleuvait. Nous n’avions pas vraiment envie de sortir. En plus, la piscine \u00e9tait ferm\u00e9e pour cause d’orage. Nous avons d\u00fb sortir pour faire la carte d\u2019identit\u00e9 de Hong Kong (HKID) d’Alex. Tous les r\u00e9sidents \u00e2g\u00e9s de plus de 11 ans doivent en avoir une. Nous avions rendez-vous \u00e0 16 heures. J\u2019avais compt\u00e9 tr\u00e8s large pour \u00eatre sure de ne pas \u00eatre en retard. Du coup, et nous avion 30 minutes d\u2019avance. Nous sommes all\u00e9s prendre une glace chez Mc Donald pour patienter. Je suis impressionn\u00e9e par l’administration de Hong Kong : Nous sommes arriv\u00e9s 5 minutes en avance pour notre rendez-vous (pas de file d’attente). A la r\u00e9ception, l’homme a v\u00e9rifi\u00e9 nos papiers et nous a donn\u00e9 un num\u00e9ro. Nous avons attendu environ 20 minutes avant \u00eatre appel\u00e9s \u00e0 un autre bureau. Une autre dame a v\u00e9rifi\u00e9 nos papiers puis a pris une photo d’Alex et ses empreintes digitales. Ensuite, nous avons encore attendu  moins de 10 minutes pour voir un employ\u00e9 de l\u2019immigration qui a lui aussi v\u00e9rifi\u00e9 nos papiers et nous a dit de revenir chercher la carte \u00e0 partir du 28 ao\u00fbt. En tout, cela a pris moins d’une heure.<\/em><\/p>\n

Wednesday, we went to see Emilie’s new school. There is no quick way to go there, so we took a taxi. The school door was opened, so we had a look inside and had a chat with a very nice lady in the admin office. We took a bus back and it took us about an hour to go home. So Emilie’s going to be the lucky one going to school in a taxi for the first 2 weeks.<\/p>\n

Mercredi, nous sommes all\u00e9s voir la nouvelle \u00e9cole d’Emilie. Il n\u2019y a pas de bus direct pour y aller, alors nous avons pris un taxi. La porte de l’\u00e9cole \u00e9tant ouverte, nous avons jet\u00e9 un coup d’\u0153il \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur et discut\u00e9 avec une dame tr\u00e8s gentille au bureau de la vie scolaire. Nous avons pris un bus pour rentrer qui nous a fait faire un long d\u00e9tour. \u00c7a nous a pris environ une heure pour rentrer chez nous. R\u00e9sultat, nous irons en taxi \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole tous les jours pendant les deux premi\u00e8res semaines.<\/em><\/p>\n

Thursday, we didn’t do much. I was really annoyed by Alex so I told him that I didn’t want to have anything to do with him on Thursday. He had to take care of himself. And he did. He played on his phone most of the day, but he went out to buy some food and he cooked his meals. Emilie and I had time to do things together and it was a relaxing day. I’m not going to repeat this experience, because it is not good for Alex to be on his phone that long. But he learned a few things, like being an adult is not doing whatever you want whenever you want! His meals were not really balanced (a lot of pasta and a few broccoli) or varied (same lunch and dinner) but he prepared his food and cleaned the kitchen afterward and did the dishes.<\/p>\n

Jeudi, nous ne sommes pas sortis. Alex m’avait vraiment \u00e9nerv\u00e9 la veille, et je lui ai dit qu\u2019il se d\u00e9brouille tout seul jeudi. Et c\u2019est ce qu\u2019il a fait. Il a jou\u00e9 sur son t\u00e9l\u00e9phone presque toute la journ\u00e9e, mais il est sorti pour acheter de la nourriture et il a pr\u00e9par\u00e9 ses repas. Emilie et moi avons eu du temps pour \u00eatre ensemble et ce fut une journ\u00e9e calme et relaxante. Cela dit, cette exp\u00e9rience ne se renouvellera pas, car ce n’est pas bon pour Alex de passer autant de temps sur son t\u00e9l\u00e9phone. Mais il a au moins appris qu\u2019\u00eatre adulte ca ne veut pas dire qu\u2019on peut faire ce qu\u2019on veut quand on veut ! Ses repas n’ont pas \u00e9t\u00e9 vraiment \u00e9quilibr\u00e9s (beaucoup de p\u00e2tes et quelques brocolis) ou vari\u00e9s (m\u00eame menu au d\u00e9jeuner et au d\u00eener) mais il a pr\u00e9par\u00e9 sa nourriture, rang\u00e9 la cuisine apr\u00e8s son passage et fait la vaisselle.<\/em><\/p>\n

Friday, it was raining again, and quite heavily. We took the tram to go to the cinema to watch Hotel Transylvania 3. And we were a bit wet. After the cinema, we went to the bank. We had a quick lunch in a familiar place \ud83d\ude42 and then we headed home. We didn’t do much for the rest of the day.<\/p>\n

Vendredi, il pleuvait encore, et assez fort. Nous avons pris le tram pour aller au cin\u00e9ma pour voir H\u00f4tel Transylvanie 3. Nous y sommes arriv\u00e9s un peu mouill\u00e9s. Apr\u00e8s le cin\u00e9ma, nous sommes all\u00e9s \u00e0 la banque. Nous avons pris un d\u00e9jeuner rapide dans un endroit familier \ud83d\ude42 et nous sommes rentr\u00e9s chez nous. Nous n’avons pas fait grand-chose le reste de la journ\u00e9e.<\/em><\/p>\n

Saturday was very grey, but it didn’t rain so we went to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. The park is free, which was very surprising. They have lovely birds, a few tortoises and a fair amount of monkeys and lemurs. We loved the monkeys! It was very stuffy, but we had a lovely time. It is a green island of calm in the middle of the sky-scrappers.<\/p>\n

Samedi le ciel \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s couvert, mais il ne pleuvait pas, alors nous sommes all\u00e9s au jardin zoologique et botanique de Hong Kong. Le parc est gratuit, ce qui \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s surprenant. Il y a de beaux oiseaux, quelques tortues et beaucoup de singes. Nous avons ador\u00e9 les singes ! Nous avons pass\u00e9 un tr\u00e8s bon moment. C’est un \u00eelot de calme et de verdure au milieu de la ville bruyante.<\/em><\/p>\n

On Sunday, Sebastien and Emilie went to the lego shop. Emilie got some money from her grand-parents for her birthday and wanted to buy a new lego. Alex wanted to spend his pocket money building a new Warhammer army so we went to the Warhammer shop. I made him walk there (30 minute going there and back). He wasn’t happy ! So Sunday was construction day with lego and Warhammer \ud83d\ude42 Sebastien and I sneaked out to have a stroll together. It’s good to have older children who do not require supervision! In the evening, Alex showed us a video of a monkey doind a massage to a lion and when the lion roars back, the monkey whack it in the face. Sebastien and Alex laughed to tears!<\/p>\n

Dimanche, S\u00e9bastien et Emilie sont all\u00e9s au magasin Lego. Emilie a re\u00e7u de l’argent de ses grands-parents pour son anniversaire et voulait acheter un nouveau lego. Alex voulait d\u00e9penser son argent de poche dans une nouvelle arm\u00e9e de Warhammer, alors nous sommes all\u00e9s au magasin Warhammer. Je l’ai fait marcher pour y aller (30 minutes aller et retour). Il n’\u00e9tait pas content, il a r\u00e2l\u00e9 tout du long ! Dimanche \u00e9tait le jour de la construction entre lego et Warhammer \ud83d\ude42 S\u00e9bastien et moi sommes all\u00e9s nous promener ensemble tous les deux. C\u2019est cool d’avoir des enfants plus grand qui n’ont pas besoin de surveillance ! Dans la soir\u00e9e, Alex nous a montr\u00e9 une vid\u00e9o d’un singe en train de faire un massage \u00e0 un lion et lorsque le lion rugit, le singe le frappe sans avoir peur. S\u00e9bastien et Alex ont ri aux larmes!<\/em><\/p>\n
