For the moment, I feel like I am on holiday. It\u2019s a bit surreal thinking home will be in a different place next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\"><em>J&#8217;ai quitt\u00e9 Hong Kong il y a une semaine. Pour le moment, j&#8217;ai l&#8217;impression d&#8217;\u00eatre en vacances. C&#8217;est un peu surr\u00e9el de penser quem maison sera dans un endroit diff\u00e9rent le mois prochain.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before leaving I set myself a few things to do. These are my accomplishments (and failures\u2026):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Avant de partir, je me suis fix\u00e9 quelques trucs \u00e0 faire. Voici mes r\u00e9alisations (et mes \u00e9checs\u2026) :<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Sewing workshop: <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color\">DONE<\/mark><\/strong>. Since I was a teenager, I\u2019d wanted to learn to use a sewing machine. I even bought one in May 2020. But I\u2019d been too scared to use it. I made two cushion covers for the sofa. Very proud of myself!<\/li><li><strong>Police Museum: FAIL<\/strong>. Unfortunately, the museum has been closed for more than a year and I didn\u2019t get the chance to check it out.<\/li><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sebetanne.co.uk\/hkblog\/gallery-photos\/2022-2\/st-stephens-cemetery-05-06-2022\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"10577\" target=\"_blank\">St Stephen\u2019s cemetery<\/a>: <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color\">DONE<\/mark><\/strong> (click the link to see the pictures!).<\/li><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yha.org.hk\/en\/our-services\/mei-ho-house-revitalisation-project\/heritage-mei-ho-house\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.yha.org.hk\/en\/our-services\/mei-ho-house-revitalisation-project\/heritage-mei-ho-house\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mei O House<\/a>: FAIL<\/strong>. I went there in 2019 and I wanted to come back and take the time to immerse myself in this part of Hong Kong history. Unfortunately, the museum is being refurbished at the moment. Mei O House is the last remaining public housing built after a terrible fire destroyed a slum and left so many people homeless. This fire, albeit being a tragedy, was the wake-up call for the government to acknowledge a big part of the population who was living in horrible conditions. Mei O House and several other blocks were built to house these people. There were rooms for sleeping (no privacy) and kitchens were on the balconies outside. Not really luxury, but water tight and that can be warmed. The museum shows the evolution of housing and is very interesting.<\/li><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sebetanne.co.uk\/hkblog\/gallery-photos\/2022-2\/jewish-cemetery-03-05-2022\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"10268\" target=\"_blank\">Jewish Cemetery<\/a>: <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color\">DONE<\/mark><\/strong> (click the link to see the pictures!).<\/li><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hkmms.org.hk\/en\/home\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hkmms.org.hk\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\">Museum of Medical Science<\/a>: <strong>FAIL<\/strong><\/strong>. That was pure curiosity. I just wanted to see what this museum was about. But I just forgot to go. There were many things to do last month and I forgot to plan this visit.<\/li><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sebetanne.co.uk\/hkblog\/gallery-photos\/2022-2\/museum-of-teaware-12-06-2022\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"10617\" target=\"_blank\">Museum of Tea Ware<\/a>: <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color\">DONE<\/mark><\/strong> (click the link to see the pictures!).<\/li><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetsurvivors.com\/walking-tours\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sunsetsurvivors.com\/walking-tours\" target=\"_blank\">Sunset Survivor Tour<\/a>: <strong>FAIL<\/strong><\/strong>. I am so disappointed at not having been able to do this tour. I had everything planed but the person doing the tour had a family emergency and had to go to the UK in June. C\u2019est la vie !<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em><strong>Atelier couture : FAIT<\/strong>. Depuis tr\u00e8s longtemps, je veux apprendre \u00e0 me servir d&#8217;une machine \u00e0 coudre. J&#8217;en ai m\u00eame achet\u00e9 une en mai 2020. Mais j&#8217;ai trop peur de l&#8217;utiliser. Voil\u00e0, je me suis lanc\u00e9e et jJ&#8217;ai fait deux housses de coussin pour le canap\u00e9. Tr\u00e8s fi\u00e8re de moi !<\/em><\/li><li><em><strong>Mus\u00e9e de la police : \u00c9CHEC<\/strong>. Malheureusement, le mus\u00e9e est ferm\u00e9 depuis plus d&#8217;un an et je n&#8217;ai pas eu l&#8217;occasion de le visiter.<\/em><\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sebetanne.co.uk\/hkblog\/gallery-photos\/2022-2\/st-stephens-cemetery-05-06-2022\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"10577\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cimeti\u00e8re St Stephen<\/a> : FAIT<\/strong> (cliquez sur le lien pour voir les photos !).<\/em><\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yha.org.hk\/en\/our-services\/mei-ho-house-revitalisation-project\/heritage-mei-ho-house\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.yha.org.hk\/en\/our-services\/mei-ho-house-revitalisation-project\/heritage-mei-ho-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maison Mei O<\/a> : \u00c9CHEC<\/strong>. J&#8217;y suis all\u00e9e en 2019 et j&#8217;avais envie d&#8217;y retourner et de prendre le temps de m&#8217;immerger dans cette partie de l&#8217;histoire de Hong Kong. Malheureusement, le mus\u00e9e est actuellement en cours de r\u00e9novation. La maison Mei O est le dernier logement social restant construit apr\u00e8s qu&#8217;un terrible incendie a d\u00e9truit un bidonville et laiss\u00e9 tant de personnes sans abri. Cet incendie, bien qu&#8217;\u00e9tant une trag\u00e9die, a \u00e9t\u00e9 le signal d&#8217;alarme pour que le gouvernement reconnaisse qu&#8217;une grande partie de la population vivait dans des conditions insalubres. La maison Mei O et plusieurs autres blocs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 construits pour loger ces personnes. Il y avait des chambres pour dormir (pas d&#8217;intimit\u00e9), les cuisines \u00e9taient sur les balcons \u00e0 l&#8217;ext\u00e9rieur. Pas vraiment luxueux, mais \u00e9tanche et pouvant \u00eatre chauff\u00e9. C&#8217;\u00e9tait de la pure curiosit\u00e9. Je voulais juste voir ce que proposait ce mus\u00e9e. Mais j&#8217;ai tout simplement oubli\u00e9 d&#8217;y aller. Je suis tellement d\u00e9\u00e7u de ne pas avoir pu faire ce tour. J&#8217;avais tout pr\u00e9vu, mais la personne qui fait la visite a eu une urgence familiale et a d\u00fb se rendre au Royaume-Uni en juin. This is a very popular entertainment in Hong Kong: you rent a boat for the day, you bring your friends, food and drink and you spend the day on the boat. I must say I was a bit worried about the whole concept, but we spent a really nice time and I am happy we got to try that once!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Une chose que j&#8217;ai essay\u00e9, m\u00eame si je n&#8217;en avais pas forc\u00e9ment envie, c&#8217;\u00e9tait une f\u00eate sur une jonque. C&#8217;est un divertissement tr\u00e8s populaire \u00e0 Hong Kong : vous louez un bateau pour la journ\u00e9e, vous amenez vos amis, \u00e0 manger et \u00e0 boire et vous passez la journ\u00e9e sur le bateau. Je dois dire que j&#8217;\u00e9tais un peu inqui\u00e8te \u00e0 l&#8217;id\u00e9e de passer tout ce temps sur un bateau, mais nous avons pass\u00e9 un tr\u00e8s bon moment et je suis contente
