After getting our visas, I decided to stop at Repulse Bay and walk home through Tai Tam Country Park. Oh boy! That was NOT a walk in the park! According to Google Map, it was about an hour walk (the grey path):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 nos visas, j’ai d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de m’arr\u00eater \u00e0 Repulse Bay et de rentrer \u00e0 pied \u00e0 travers le Tai Tam Country Park. Oh lala ! Ce n’\u00e9tait pas une promenade facile ! D\u2019apr\u00e8s Google Map, c\u2019\u00e9tait environ une heure de marche (le chemin gris) :<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That sounded easy enough, the sun was shining, it was warm. I started my walk by following the wrong path. It was more climbing than walking, but apart from a close encounter with a thorny plant and a butterfly, all was good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cela semblait assez facile, il faisait beau et chaud. J’ai commenc\u00e9 ma promenade en prenant le mauvais chemin. C’\u00e9tait plus de l’escalade que de la marche, mais mis \u00e0 part une rencontre rapproch\u00e9e avec des ronces et un papillon, tout s\u2019est bien pass\u00e9.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that climb, I reached a flat path that follows the Twins Catch Water. I walked for 10 minutes and then reached the real trail, with a map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s cette mont\u00e9e, je suis arriv\u00e9e sur un chemin plat qui suit le Twins Catch Water. J’ai march\u00e9 pendant 10 minutes, puis j’ai trouv\u00e9 le v\u00e9ritable sentier avec une carte.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the map, you can see where I was (yellow rectangle) and I followed the red path going south. This trail is part of the Wilson Trail and goes over the Twins, a hill with a great view over the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur la carte, vous pouvez voir o\u00f9 j’\u00e9tais (le rectangle jaune) et j’ai suivi le chemin rouge en direction du sud. Ce sentier fait partie du Wilson Trail et passe au dessus des Twins, une colline offrant une vue magnifique sur le paysage.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What the map didn’t say was that it was not flat, at all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce que la carte ne dit pas, c\u2019est que ce n\u2019est pas du tout plat !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the climb begun. So many steps! And it was really hot! It could have been worse, at least most of the path was shaded by the trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et la mont\u00e9e a commenc\u00e9. Il y avait tellement de marches ! Et il faisait tr\u00e8s chaud ! Cela aurait pu \u00eatre pire, au moins la majeure partie du chemin \u00e9tait ombrag\u00e9e par les arbres.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The good thing about climbing so many steps is that you generally get a good view at the top \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le bon c\u00f4t\u00e9 de monter tant d’escaliers est que vous avez g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement une bonne vue au sommet \ud83d\ude42<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eventually I reached the top. I was so glad the ascent was done! The proof below (I don’t like selfies!):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finalement, j’ai atteint le sommet. J’\u00e9tais tellement contente que l’ascension soit termin\u00e9e ! La preuve ci-dessous (je n\u2019aime pas les selfies!) :<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, I was only half-way through the trail. Going down was not easy but it was easier. And as the path was not shaded by trees the view in front was breathtaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais je n’\u00e9tais qu’\u00e0 mi-chemin. Descendre n\u2019\u00e9tait pas facile mais c\u2019\u00e9tait plus facile. Et comme le chemin n’\u00e9tait pas ombrag\u00e9 par les arbres, la vue \u00e9tait \u00e0 couper le souffle.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I met a man who did the same path 4 times running. I met him in one direction, then the other and back again. That’s mad!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai rencontr\u00e9 un homme qui a fait le m\u00eame chemin 4 fois en courant. Je l’ai rencontr\u00e9 dans un sens, puis dans l’autre et \u00e0 nouveau. C’est fou !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last bit of the trail was scary. If you fall, there’s nothing to stop you until you reach the road and it’s abrupt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La derni\u00e8re partie de la piste \u00e9tait effrayante. Si vous tombez, rien ne vous arr\u00eatera avant d\u2019atteindre la route et c\u2019est abrupt.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It took me around an hour and forty five minutes. I stopped to take a lot of pictures and take a break. I was really glad to get in the cool air conditioned bus and even more glad for the shower once at home! But proud of myself to have done it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cela m’a pris environ une heure et quarante-cinq minutes. Je me suis arr\u00eat\u00e9e pour prendre beaucoup de photos et faire des pauses.
