We finally went to Ocean Park. Emilie has been asking to go since we arrived in August. I thought there would be less people as most schools had only one week of holiday. But still, we arrived at 10 when it opened. We had a bit of trouble finding the ticket office and then we were in! Click here<\/a> for a map of the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous sommes finalement all\u00e9s \u00e0 Ocean Park. Emilie voulait y aller depuis notre arriv\u00e9e en ao\u00fbt. Je pensais qu’il y aurait moins de monde, la plupart des \u00e9coles n’ayant qu’une semaine de vacances. Nous sommes quand m\u00eame arriv\u00e9s \u00e0 10 heures \u00e0 l\u2019ouverture. The park is divided into 2 areas: at the bottom, near the entrance, there are animals and attractions for the little ones; at the top, the attractions are scarier. And that’s where Alex wanted to go. There are 2 ways to go up: cable car or ‘Ocean Express’ (i.e. an underground train that takes 5 minutes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le parc est divis\u00e9 en 2 : en bas, pr\u00e8s de l’entr\u00e9e, il y a des animaux et des attractions pour les plus petits; au sommet, les attractions sont plus sensasionnelles. Et c\u2019est l\u00e0 qu\u2019Alex voulait aller. Il y a 2 fa\u00e7ons de monter: en t\u00e9l\u00e9ph\u00e9rique ou avec l\u2019\u2018Ocean Express\u2019 (c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire un m\u00e9tro qui prend 5 minutes).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The park is divided in zones. The decoration of each zone corresponds to the theme. The first zone we went to was the ‘Polar Adventure’. All was white and blue. We started by the ‘Arctic Blast’, a roller coaster. Not too scary, but good. Then we went to the bumper cars. We waited for nearly an hour. I had time to understand how the app was working during this time! After that, we went to see the arctic animals: penguins, walruses, seals. It was very cold inside and it smelt very strongly of fish!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le parc est divis\u00e9 en zones. La d\u00e9coration de chaque zone correspond au th\u00e8me. La premi\u00e8re zone o\u00f9 nous sommes all\u00e9s \u00e9tait l\u2019aventure polaire. Tout \u00e9tait blanc et bleu. Nous avons commenc\u00e9 par l\u2019\u2018Arctic Blast\u2019, une montagne russe, pas trop effrayante, mais bien quand m\u00eame. Ensuite, nous sommes all\u00e9s aux autos tamponneuses. Nous avons attendu pr\u00e8s d’une heure. Pendant ce temps, j’ai pris le temps de comprendre comment marchait l’appli du parc ! Apr\u00e8s cela, nous sommes all\u00e9s voir les animaux arctiques: manchots, morses, phoques. Il faisait tr\u00e8s froid \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur et \u00e7a sentait tr\u00e8s fort le poisson !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We went back in the heat after that. We explored another zone, ‘Marine World’. We went on the ‘Crazy galleon’, a boat that rocked a bit too much for me. I did it once and then the kids did it alone. I was happy to take pictures from the side! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous sommes revenus dans la chaleur apr\u00e8s \u00e7a. Nous avons explor\u00e9 une autre zone, \u2018Marine World\u2019. Nous sommes all\u00e9s sur le \u2018Crazy Galion\u2019, un bateau qui balance un petit peu trop pour mon go\u00fbt. Je l’ai fait une fois et ensuite les enfants l’ont fait seuls. J’\u00e9tais contente de prendre les photos !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex wanted to do a super roller coaster called ‘The Dragon’. Thank god, Emilie was too small for it so I had a good excuse not to do this one! We went to the ‘Flying Swings’ instead. Much more my kind of thrill! Alex joined us and had a go at it as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex voulait faire un super roller coaster appel\u00e9 \u2018The Dragon\u2019. Dieu merci, Emilie \u00e9tait trop petite alors j’avais une bonne excuse pour ne pas le faire ! Nous sommes all\u00e9es au \u2018Flying Swings\u2019 \u00e0 la place. Beaucoup plus mon genre ! Alex nous a rejointes et a fait un tour avec Emilie.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was time to have a bite. We had the worst meal ever. I wasn’t very surprised by the appalling quality of the food. A few chips and a pizza that could have been a shoe sole. Surprisingly, I found a fresh fruit salad! After that, the attractions that Alex wanted to do were very crowded, so we decided to go and see some of the animals hoping that there would be less queue a couple hours later. We saw the sharks, jelly fish, pandas, rain forest birds and reptiles (Alex was not very comfortable with spiders!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il \u00e9tait temps de manger un morceau. La nourriture \u00e9tait \u00e9pouvantable. Je n\u2019en ai pas \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s surprise. Quelques frites et une pizza qui aurait pu servir de semelle de chaussure. Mais, \u00e9tonnamment, j’ai trouv\u00e9 une salade de fruits frais ! Apr\u00e8s cela, les attractions il y avait beaucoup d\u2019attente pour les attractions qu\u2019Alex souhaitait faire. Nous avons donc d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d’aller voir les animaux en esp\u00e9rant qu’il y aurait moins d’attente quelques heures plus tard. Nous avons vu des requins, des m\u00e9duses, des pandas, des oiseaux de la for\u00eat vierge et des reptiles (Alex n’\u00e9tait pas tr\u00e8s \u00e0 l’aise avec les araign\u00e9es !)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rainforest attraction goes over another attraction where people are in circular boats. And we can fire some water cannons at them. That’s a very good one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’attraction de la for\u00eat vierge passe au-dessus d\u2019une autre attraction o\u00f9 les gens sont dans des bateaux circulaires. Et nous pouvons leur tirer dessus avec des canons \u00e0 eau. C\u2019est tr\u00e8s rigolo !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The park has some spectacular views across the sea. After seeing all the animals, we decided to bite the bullet and go to the famous roller coaster Alex wanted to do: the ‘Hair Raiser’. So we went back up and took the cable car this time. Fantastic views! But the car stopped twice. No apparent reasons. But Alex is afraid of height and he was starting to panic in the egg thinking he was going to drop and die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il y a des panoramas spectaculaires sur la mer. Apr\u00e8s avoir vu tous les animaux, nous avons d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de nous rendre aux fameuses montagnes russes qu\u2019Alex voulait faire : le “Hair Raiser”. Nous sommes donc remont\u00e9s en t\u00e9l\u00e9ph\u00e9rique cette fois-ci. Une vue fantastique ! Mais le t\u00e9l\u00e9ph\u00e9rique s’est arr\u00eat\u00e9 deux fois. Sans raison apparente. Mais Alex qui a peur du vide a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 paniquer en pensant qu’il allait tomber et mourir.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was still 45 minutes queue for the ‘Hair Raiser’. Once again, Emilie was too small so Alex went by himself. He was a bit shy to queue on his own. In the end, he loved it but thought it was really scary nonetheless. Meanwhile, Emilie and I went to the ‘Eagle’, a big pole with eggs attached to it (you go up, you turn and you’re down). Emilie did it 5 times in a row!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il y avait encore 45 minutes d’attente pour le \u00abHair Raiser\u00bb. Encore une fois, Emilie \u00e9tait trop petite et Alex y est all\u00e9 tout seul. Il avait un peu peur de faire la queue tout seul. Au final, il a ador\u00e9 l\u2019attraction mais c’\u00e9tait quand m\u00eame vraiment effrayant. Pendant ce temps, Emilie et moi-m\u00eame sommes all\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019Aigle, un grand poteau avec des \u0153ufs qui y sont attach\u00e9s (vous montez, vous tournez et vous redescendez). Emilie l’a fait 5 fois de suite !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
