The end – Part 1

I can’t believe it’s been more than 3 months since my last post. It’s been very busy as you can imagine. Let’s catch up chronologically. I left you at the end of March. It was the beginning of the Easter holidays.

Difficile de croire que plus de 3 mois se soient écoulés depuis mon dernier message. J’ai été bien occupée comme vous vous en doutez. Reprenons chronologiquement là où je vous ai quitté fin mars, au début des vacances de Pâques.

Emilie’s and Sébastien’s trip to Club Med Bintan went very well. They spent quality time together and Emilie tried archery and golf. While they were away, Alex and I watched a series on Netflix that we really liked: Brothers Sun with Michelle Yeoh as a Chinese Mafia mum hidden in California.

Le séjour d’Emilie et Sébastien au Club Med Bintan s’est très bien passé. Ils ont passé de bons moments ensemble et Emilie s’est essayée au tir à l’arc et au golf. Pendant leur absence, Alex et moi avons regardé une série sur Netflix qui nous a beaucoup plu : Brothers Sun avec Michelle Yeoh dans le rôle d’une maman de la mafia chinoise cachée en Californie.

IB exams were between the 24th April and the 16th May and we didn’t see much of Alex during this time. He was either at school taking an exam or revising. But he did well and was satisfied with his performance. There was a lot of talk about cheating and that was quite stressful in addition to the normal exam stress.

Les examens de l’IB ont eu lieu entre le 24 avril et le 16 mai et nous n’avons pas beaucoup vu Alex pendant cette période. Il était tout le temps à l’école, soit pour passer un examen, soit pour réviser. Mais il s’en est bien sorti et il est satisfait de sa performance. Il y a eu un mini-scandale de triche et c’était assez stressant en plus du stress normal des examens.

For our Sunday walks, Sébastien and I discovered the rail corridor that goes from Tanjong Pagar to Malaysia. It is a very nice walk in the middle of nature.

Pour nos balades dominicales, Sébastien et moi avons découvert le corridor ferroviaire qui va de Tanjong Pagar à la Malaisie. C’est une très belle balade en pleine nature.

At the end of April, we went to Sentosa to watch a movie on the beach in the outdoor movie festival. I wanted to do this once. This is such a thing to do in Singapore! We were there on our sun loungers with a G&T in hand, watching the sunset before the start of the movie. Loved it!

Fin avril, nous sommes allés à Sentosa voir un film sur la plage lors d’un festival du film en plein air. Je voulais faire ça une fois. C’est tellement Singapour ! Nous étions là sur nos chaises longues avec un G&T (gin tonic) à la main, en regardant le coucher de soleil avant le début du film. J’ai adoré !

May was very busy. Alex finished his exams, had his graduation day and prom evening and then left for a week in Bali with some friends. We didn’t see much of him.

Le mois de mai a été très chargé. Alex a terminé ses examens, a eu sa journée de remise des diplômes et sa soirée de bal, puis est parti une semaine à Bali avec des amis. Nous ne l’avons pas beaucoup vu.

Emilie went to Malaysia with the rest of Y9 for a residential. She had fun even if she didn’t want to go. After that, she had a small procedure on her ingrown toenail that went very well and now all the pain is gone. She also had a fortnight of end of year assessments where she did very well. She is quiet and doesn’t blow her own trumpet but she is as bright as her brother.

Emilie est partie en Malaisie avec le reste des Y9 pour un séjour d’une semaine. Elle s’y est bien amusée même si elle ne voulait pas y aller. Après cela, elle a subi une petite intervention pour son ongle incarné qui s’est très bien déroulée et maintenant toute la douleur a disparu. Elle a également eu une quinzaine de tests de fin d’année où elle a très bien réussi. Elle est discrète et ne se fait pas remarquer mais elle est aussi brillante que son frère.

My aunt and uncle came to visit for 10 days. We went all over the touristic attractions. We walked a lot and we talked a lot. That was great! All the pictures here.

Ma tante et mon oncle sont venus me rendre visite pendant 10 jours. Nous avons parcouru les attractions touristiques. Nous avons beaucoup marché et nous avons beaucoup parlé. C’était génial ! Toutes les photos ici.

And then we were in June. We went on a private island for a birthday party in Indonesia. It was a bit of paradise. Alex left for Paris on the 17^th. He is spending a month with his grand-parents. My mum came just after for a week and we also did the main touristic attractions and she left Singapore with Emilie on the 30^th. They are back in Avignon enjoying the Festival.

Et puis c’était juin. Nous sommes allés sur une île privée pour un anniversaire en Indonésie. C’était un peu le paradis. Alex est parti pour Paris le 17. Il passe un mois avec ses grands-parents. Ma mère est venue à Singapour juste après le départ d’Alex, pour une semaine et nous avons aussi fait les principales attractions touristiques. Elle a quitté Singapour avec Emilie le 30. Elles sont maintenant à Avignon pour profiter du Festival.

Last week, the movers packed the flat. Third time they are crossing the sea. This time is the last time at least for the next 4 years. And we are left, Sébastien and I, alone in an almost empty flat leaving like when we were students. It’s nice to be together. It’s been a long time.

La semaine dernière, les déménageurs ont emballé l’appartement. C’est la troisième fois que nos meubles traversent la mer. Cette fois, c’est la dernière au moins pour les 4 prochaines années. Et nous nous retrouvons, Sébastien et moi, seuls dans un appartement presque vide, vivant comme des étudiants. C’est agréable d’être ensemble. Ça fait longtemps.

Today is my penultimate post because our Asian adventure is reaching an end. I will keep this blog live for some time. Until I decide what to do next. I don’t think anyone will be interested in a blog on my life in London, not exotic enough!

Ceci est mon avant-dernier post car l’aventure asiatique touche à sa fin. Je garderai ce blog en ligne pendant un certain temps. Jusqu’à ce que je décide quoi faire ensuite. Je pense que personne ne sera intéressé par un blog sur ma vie à Londres, pas assez exotique !
