As anticipated, Chinese New Year (CNY) was a big thing here. Straight after the Christmas decorations went down, the ones for CNY went up. There were red lanterns and pigs everywhere. I really liked all the decorations.
Comme prévu, le Nouvel An chinois (CNY) était un évènement important ici. Immédiatement après la disparition des décorations de Noël, celles pour le CNY sont apparues. Il y avait des lanternes rouges et des cochons partout. J’ai vraiment aimé toutes les décorations.
Shop windows / Vitrines
The streets and the shopping malls were decorated. Everywhere you looked, there were decorations. In addition to the lanterns and pigs, there were trees with pink flowers and orange trees. From what I understood, they celebrate the spring and the rebirth of life.
Les rues et les centres commerciaux étaient décorés. Il y avait des décorations partout. En plus des lanternes et des cochons, il y avait des arbres à fleurs roses et des orangers. D’après ce que j’ai compris, ils célèbrent le printemps et le renouveau.
As usual, the management organised a party on the 1st February to celebrate the new year. I saw my first lion dance. There was also another show with a man holding so many glasses on a stick. Quite impressive! Plant pots were also sold and I bought a couple for our balcony. It does look so bare now!
Comme c’est l’habitude, une fête a été organisée le 1er février pour célébrer le nouvel an. J’ai vu ma première danse du lion. Il y avait aussi un autre spectacle avec un jongleur impressionnant ! Des plantes étaient en vente et j’en ai acheté deux pour notre balcon qui a l’air un peu moins dépouillé maintenant !
On the actual new year day, the 5th, we went to Repulse Bay Beach to see another Lion Dance. This one had a yellow lion, a red lion and a dragon. The weather was stunningly beautiful. I can’t believe we’re only in February!
Le jour du nouvel an, le 5, nous sommes allés à Repulse Bay Beach pour assister à une autre danse du lion. Celui-ci avait un lion jaune, un lion rouge et un dragon. Le temps était incroyablement beau. Je n’arrive pas à réaliser que nous ne sommes qu’en février !
By the way, “Kung Hei Fat Choi” means Happy New Year!
Au fait, «Kung Hei Fat Choi» signifie Bonne Année !
