We’ve been in Singapore a bit more than a week, now. First impressions are good. I was impressed by the clean open streets lined with trees and impeccable buildings. It reminded me a bit of California. The weather has been hot but tolerable. It only rained 3 times! So far, it is much easier than when we first arrived in Hong Kong.
Nous sommes maintenant à Singapour depuis un peu plus d’une semaine. Mes premières impressions sont bonnes. J’ai été impressionné par les rue larges et bordées d’arbres et de bâtiments impeccables. Cela m’a rappelé un peu la Californie. Il fait chaud mais c’est supportable et il n’a plu que 3 fois. Jusqu’à présent, c’est beaucoup plus facile que lorsque nous sommes arrivés à Hong Kong.
We had a very productive first week, finding a flat, getting around in the MRT (= the underground) and the bus, getting ready for school (finding the uniforms and how to get easily to school), buying SIM cards and visiting a bit. You can check the first picture gallery here. So now, I’m taking it easy until the kids go back to school. We have a few more things to do in order to be 100% ready for the start of the school year on Monday. And after that, I’ll focus on myself.
Notre première semaine a été très productive : nous avons trouvé un appartement, comment utiliser le MRT (= le métro) et le bus, nous sommes 90% prêts pour la rentrée (uniformes et comment aller à l’école), nous avons des numéros de téléphone pour Singapour et nous avons même fait un peu de visites. Vous pouvez regarger les premières photos ici. Du coup, cette semaine, c’est plus cool. Nous avons encore quelques petites choses à faire afin d’être prêts à 100% pour la rentrée de lundi. Et après ça, je me concentrerai sur moi.
Something interesting and different from London and Hong Kong: when you are in an escalator and you are not walking up, you need to stay on the LEFT!
Quelque chose d’intéressant et de différent de Londres et de Hong Kong : lorsque vous êtes dans un escalator et que vous ne montez pas, vous devez rester à GAUCHE !
Also, I found some hairy trees, yes, hairy!! Grass and fern grow on the trunk of trees and that’s very odd-looking.
J’ai aussi trouvé des arbres poilus, oui, poilus !! L’herbe et les fougères poussent sur le tronc des arbres et ça fait un look très particulier !
