Like every year, I hid easter eggs in the lounge for the kids to find. This year, I asked if they still wanted to do it and it was a resounding yes. It warms my heart that they still want to keep this tradition alive.
Comme chaque année, j’ai caché des œufs de Pâques dans le salon pour les enfants. Cette année, je leur ai demandé s’ils voulaient toujours le faire et c’était un oui catégorique. Cela me fait chaud au cœur qu’ils veuillent toujours maintenir cette tradition.
March has been full on! For the good news, Alex received 5 offers from universities in the UK, i.e. all of his choices want him. So, he will be living in London next year with us. Maybe not so good for his independence / cutting the umbilical cord, but very good for my planning and budget 😀 Emilie was also accepted at St Dunstan’s, her previous London school and we are all very happy about that. Such a relief to know where they will be next year!
Le mois de mars a été bien rempli ! Les bonnes nouvelles d’abord, Alex a reçu 5 offres d’universités du Royaume-Uni, c’est-à-dire que toutes les universités qu’il a choisies le veulent. Il vivra donc à Londres l’année prochaine avec nous. Peut-être pas très bon pour son indépendance / couper le cordon ombilical, mais ça m’arrange bigrement côté organisation et budget 😀 Emilie a également été acceptée à St Dunstan’s, son ancienne école londonienne et nous en sommes tous très heureux. Quel soulagement de savoir où ils seront l’année prochaine !
Sébastien gave us a bit of a fright at the beginning of the month. He had a blocked intestine and spent 4 days in hospital. Thankfully, he didn’t have to go under the knife and he is now 100% back to normal.
Sébastien nous a fait une petite frayeur en début de mois. Il a eu une occlusion intestinale et a passé 4 jours à l’hôpital. Heureusement, il n’a pas eu à passer sur le billard et il est maintenant revenu à la normale à 100 %.
Next week, he and Emilie are going to Club Med Bintan to enjoy a last holiday in Asia, while I stay home with Alex and make sure he revises properly. First exam paper is the 25th April!!!
La semaine prochaine, Emilie et lui partent au Club Med Bintan pour profiter de dernières vacances en Asie, pendant que je reste à la maison avec Alex et que je veille à ce qu’il révise correctement. La première épreuve de l’IB est le 25 avril !!!
I did a few interesting things this month as well. First, Sébastien and I went to an exposition about men jackets. It was supposed to be about how this male garment has changed through time and how it is a reflection of our culture, etc. But in fact, it was a sample from a private collection and showing jackets from this century only. All the jackets presented belonged to a single collector who owns more than 300 jackets. He even wears some of them. I hope this didn’t inspire Sébastien to start his own collection, he was tempted by the idea. See pictures below of some of them.
J’ai également fait quelques visites intéressantes ce mois-ci. Tout d’abord, Sébastien et moi sommes allés à une exposition sur les vestes pour hommes. Elle était censée parler de la façon dont ce vêtement masculin a changé au fil du temps et comment il est le reflet de notre culture, etc. Mais en fait, il s’agissait d’un échantillon d’une collection privée et il n’y avait que des vestes du XXIe siècle. Toutes les vestes présentées appartenaient à un seul collectionneur qui en possède plus de 300. Il en porte même certaines. J’espère que cela n’a pas inspiré Sébastien à commencer sa propre collection, même si l’idée l’a tenté. Voir les photos ci-dessous de certaines d’entre elles.
I visited a new area with Accueil Singapour called Jalan Kayu. No idea that existed but it was very interesting. Pictures here.
J’ai aussi visité un nouveau quartier avec Accueil Singapour appelé Jalan Kayu. Je n’en avais jamais entendu parlé avant mais c’était très intéressant. Les photos ici.
I asked Sébastien, Alex and Emilie that we spend Friday evenings together as a family for the last few months we have here. At least when no one had prior engagements. The first Friday, it was only Emilie and I as the boys were busy. And so, we went to a tapas restaurant for dinner.
J’ai demandé à Sébastien, Alex et Emilie que nous passions les vendredis soirs ensemble en famille pendant les quelques mois qui nous restent ici. Du moins quand personne n’a d’engagements préalables. Le premier vendredi, il n’y avait qu’Emilie et moi car les garçons étaient occupés. Du coup, nous sommes allées dîner dans un restaurant de tapas sur Orchard road.
For Good Friday, as it was a bank holiday here, we went to Haw Par Villa, an incredible place and you can see the pictures here.

In two and a half months, Alex will leave Singapore, in three months, Emilie will leave Singapore and in three and a half months, I will leave Singapore. So little time left…
Dans deux mois et demi, Alex quitte Singapour, dans trois mois, Emilie quitte Singapour et dans trois mois et demi, je quitte Singapour. Si peu de temps…
Hi Anne good to hear that the kids are sorted out for their return to the UK. How come there is a staggered return to Europe? Are the kids off to France? I assume Alex breaks first as he will have completed all his exams. Wish him all the best from David and I. I am sure he will fly through all his papers. Sorry to hear about Seb – quite a scare – hopefully he is fully fit and enjoying his life. Selfishly I cannot wait until you are back in London. xx
