After getting our visas, I decided to stop at Repulse Bay and walk home through Tai Tam Country Park. Oh boy! That was NOT a walk in the park! According to Google Map, it was about an hour walk (the grey path):
Après avoir récupéré nos visas, j’ai décidé de m’arrêter à Repulse Bay et de rentrer à pied à travers le Tai Tam Country Park. Oh lala ! Ce n’était pas une promenade facile ! D’après Google Map, c’était environ une heure de marche (le chemin gris) :
That sounded easy enough, the sun was shining, it was warm. I started my walk by following the wrong path. It was more climbing than walking, but apart from a close encounter with a thorny plant and a butterfly, all was good.
Cela semblait assez facile, il faisait beau et chaud. J’ai commencé ma promenade en prenant le mauvais chemin. C’était plus de l’escalade que de la marche, mais mis à part une rencontre rapprochée avec des ronces et un papillon, tout s’est bien passé.
After that climb, I reached a flat path that follows the Twins Catch Water. I walked for 10 minutes and then reached the real trail, with a map.
Après cette montée, je suis arrivée sur un chemin plat qui suit le Twins Catch Water. J’ai marché pendant 10 minutes, puis j’ai trouvé le véritable sentier avec une carte.
On the map, you can see where I was (yellow rectangle) and I followed the red path going south. This trail is part of the Wilson Trail and goes over the Twins, a hill with a great view over the landscape.
Sur la carte, vous pouvez voir où j’étais (le rectangle jaune) et j’ai suivi le chemin rouge en direction du sud. Ce sentier fait partie du Wilson Trail et passe au dessus des Twins, une colline offrant une vue magnifique sur le paysage.
What the map didn’t say was that it was not flat, at all!
Ce que la carte ne dit pas, c’est que ce n’est pas du tout plat !
And the climb begun. So many steps! And it was really hot! It could have been worse, at least most of the path was shaded by the trees.
Et la montée a commencé. Il y avait tellement de marches ! Et il faisait très chaud ! Cela aurait pu être pire, au moins la majeure partie du chemin était ombragée par les arbres.
The good thing about climbing so many steps is that you generally get a good view at the top 🙂
Le bon côté de monter tant d’escaliers est que vous avez généralement une bonne vue au sommet 🙂
Eventually I reached the top. I was so glad the ascent was done! The proof below (I don’t like selfies!):
Finalement, j’ai atteint le sommet. J’étais tellement contente que l’ascension soit terminée ! La preuve ci-dessous (je n’aime pas les selfies!) :
But, I was only half-way through the trail. Going down was not easy but it was easier. And as the path was not shaded by trees the view in front was breathtaking.
Mais je n’étais qu’à mi-chemin. Descendre n’était pas facile mais c’était plus facile. Et comme le chemin n’était pas ombragé par les arbres, la vue était à couper le souffle.
I met a man who did the same path 4 times running. I met him in one direction, then the other and back again. That’s mad!
J’ai rencontré un homme qui a fait le même chemin 4 fois en courant. Je l’ai rencontré dans un sens, puis dans l’autre et à nouveau. C’est fou !
The last bit of the trail was scary. If you fall, there’s nothing to stop you until you reach the road and it’s abrupt.
La dernière partie de la piste était effrayante. Si vous tombez, rien ne vous arrêtera avant d’atteindre la route et c’est abrupt.
It took me around an hour and forty five minutes. I stopped to take a lot of pictures and take a break. I was really glad to get in the cool air conditioned bus and even more glad for the shower once at home! But proud of myself to have done it!
Cela m’a pris environ une heure et quarante-cinq minutes. Je me suis arrêtée pour prendre beaucoup de photos et faire des pauses. J’étais vraiment contente de monter dans le bus climatisé et encore plus contente de prendre une douche une fois à la maison ! Mais fière de moi de l’avoir fait !
