June, the last month before the summer holidays. The air is full of expectations about all the fun that is going to happen for the following 2 months.
Juin, le dernier mois avant les vacances d’été. L’air est plein d’anticipation de tout le plaisir qui va arriver pendant les 2 mois qui suivent.
Alex had exams at the beginning of the month and then he was on free-wheel after that. To finish off the school year, he went away for 4 days in the New Territories with his school. It was very hot and humid but he enjoyed his time except for the last day when they did a hike and there were huge spiders everywhere. Alex is really terrified of spiders and it was hell for him. Unbeknownst to him, he brought one spider back in his bag. I discovered it when I was packing our suitcases a week later. It was enormous and even I was scared of it. I threw it away in the bin a few floors down.
Alex a eu des examens de fin d’année au début du mois, puis c’était la roue libre. Pour finir l’année scolaire, il est parti pendant 4 jours dans les Nouveaux Territoires avec son école. Il faisait très chaud et humide mais il a passé un bon moment, sauf le dernier jour où ils ont fait une randonnée et où il y avait d’énormes araignées partout. Alex est vraiment terrifié par les araignées et c’était un enfer pour lui. Il a ramené une araignée dans son sac sans le savoir. Je l’ai découverte en faisant nos valises une semaine plus tard. Elle était énorme et même moi j’ai eu peur. Je l’ai jetée à la poubelle quelques étages plus bas.
Emilie had her birthday party at the end of June. I organised a treasure hunt in the flat. It was good fun! I made a mango cake with mango buttercream and decorated with an eye in a magnifying glass. Hard work!
Emilie a fêté son anniversaire à la fin du mois de juin. J’ai organisé une chasse au trésor dans l’appartement. C’était bien amusant ! J’ai fait un gâteau à la mangue avec de la crème au beurre à la mangue et décoré d’un œil dans une loupe. Pas facile !
June is a bit of a blur for me. I guess I didn’t do anything new. I continued socialising with my group of friends at the Manhattan, going to the gym every week, running errands for the family and managing the house. I was also impatient to be on holiday. The last term of school was nearly 2 months without break.
Rien de spécial pour moi en Juin. Je n’ai rien fait de nouveau ; J’ai continué à voir mon groupe de copines du Manhattan, à aller au sport toutes les semaines, à faire des courses pour la famille et à gérer la maison. J’étais aussi impatiente d’être en vacances. Le dernier trimestre de l’école a duré près de 2 mois sans interruption.
