The kids had a week and a half off for Chinese new year. Sebastien had the 3 bank holidays. So we were able to enjoy a bit of family time. We went for a walk the 4 of us in the country park next to us. That was supposed to be a 2 hours walk but we made it in around 1h and a half. Not bad, especially with 2 reluctant kids. See below a few pictures. It was already very hot, even if we started before 10 am.
Les enfants ont eu une semaine et demie de congé pour le nouvel an chinois. Sébastien avait les 3 jours fériés. Nous avons donc pu profiter d’un peu de temps en famille. Nous sommes allés nous promener tous les quatre dans le parc à côté de chez nous. C’était supposé être une promenade de 2 heures mais nous l’avons fait en 1h et demi environ. Pas mal, surtout avec 2 enfants réticents. Voir ci-dessous quelques images. Il faisait déjà très chaud, heureusement que nous sommes partis avant 10 heures.

Alex started a boxing class on Saturdays. He likes it and is not too shy. At last we have found an activity he is interested in doing! That means our Saturdays are very busy now. Sebastien and Alex leave at 10 so that Sebastien has his private lesson at 11 and Alex has his class at 12 (in the same gym) in Central. Then they go to Quarry Bay for Alex’s guitar lesson at 2 pm. Alex has a pack lunch en route. Sebastien waits for an hour in City Plaza shopping centre. They come back around 4 pm. Meanwhile, Emilie has her piano lesson at 10 am (downstairs on the 14th floor). then we have a brunch at 11 am before leaving at 12 to be on time for Emilie’s gym class at 1 pm. I generally wait in Starbucks. And we are back home around 3 pm. At least, Sundays are free from any activity.
Alex a commencé un cours de boxe le samedi. Il aime ça et n’est pas trop timide. Nous avons enfin trouvé une activité qui l’intéresse ! Cela signifie que nos samedis sont très occupés maintenant. Sébastien et Alex partent à 10 heures pour que Sébastien ait sa leçon personelle à 11 heures et Alex à 12 heures (dans le même gymnase) à Central. Ensuite, ils se rendent à Quarry Bay pour la leçon de guitare d’Alex à 14 heures. Alex prend un pique-nique en route. Sébastien attend une heure dans le centre commercial City Plaza. Ils reviennent vers 16 heures. Pendant ce temps, Emilie a sa leçon de piano à 10h (en bas au 14ème étage). Nous prenons ensuite un brunch à 11 heures avant de partir à 12 heures pour le cours de gym d’Emilie à 13 heures. J’attends généralement à Starbucks. Et nous sommes de retour à la maison vers 15 heures. Au moins, nos dimanches sont libres.
Let’s not forget February is the month for the crepes. So we had to have some! Surprisingly Alex did eat a couple of those. Maybe it was because I made a white chocolate and speculoos spread…
N’oublions pas que février est le mois des crêpes. Il fallait donc en avoir ! Étonnamment, Alex en a mangé quelques-unes. Peut-être que c’était parce que j’avais fait une pâte à tartiner au chocolat blanc et au spéculoos…
On the 11th, we went for a walk in the New Territories with Alex and Emilie. Pictures here. And the following day, we went to Ocean Park, at last! Emilie have been asking to go since we arrived to Hong Kong. Pictures here. Emilie went to the beach for the last day of holidays. The weather was incredible for a 13th February. It may be normal for Hong Kong, but it is still odd for me to go to the beach and have a dip in the middle of winter 🙂
Le 11, nous sommes allés nous promener dans les nouveaux territoires avec Alex et Emilie. Photos ici. Et le lendemain, nous sommes enfin allés à Ocean Park ! Ça fait 6 mois qu’Emilie voulait y aller. Photos ici. Emilie a passé le dernier jour des vacances à la plage. Le temps était incroyable pour un 13 février. C’est peut-être normal à Hong Kong, mais il m’est toujours étrange d’aller à la plage et de me baigner en plein hiver 🙂
The 20th of February was a very important day. Someone came to drill holes in the walls so that I can hang all my pictures! I am so happy! This is home now. I look at the walls and I can see Alex and Emilie’s pictures and frames we bought on holidays. Some of the frames have not been hanged since we left Greenwich in 2015. I don’t care if we stay a few years only here. I am happy to see these pictures everyday! So all in all, decoration is done in the house. (Thumbs up!)
Le 20 février était un jour très important. Quelqu’un est venu percer les murs pour que je puisse accrocher tous mes cadres ! Je suis très heureuse ! Je regarde les murs et je vois les photos des enfants et les cadres ramenés de vacances. Certains cadres n’ont pas été accrochés depuis notre départ de Greenwich en 2015. Même si on ne reste que quelques années ici, je suis contente d’être entourée de ces images. Voilà, la décoration de la maison est faite.
Thursday 21st, Emilie was not feeling very well, and the school called me to get her home. She had the flu. She is very rarely sick and she was really unwell. We went to the doctor on Friday to confirm the flu diagnosis. The school required a certificate upon returning to school. they don’t joke with flu here! Emilie was back to her normal self on Sunday and back at school on Monday. I was very worried to get sick and not be able to come to Europe. But fortunately, I didn’t get the flu!
Jeudi 21, Emilie ne se sentait pas très bien et l’école m’a appelée pour venir la chercher. Elle a eu la grippe. C’est très rare, mais cette fois-là, elle était vraiment malade. Vendredi, nous sommes allées chez le médecin pour confirmer le diagnostic de grippe. L’école exige un certificat à son retour à l’école. Ils ne plaisantent pas avec la grippe ici ! Emilie était revenue à son état normal dimanche et de retour à l’école lundi. J’étais très inquiète de tomber malade et de ne pas pouvoir venir en Europe. Mais heureusement, je n’ai pas eu la grippe !
Alex had a sponsored walk across Tai Tam Country Park with his school. He came back as below… The explanation? His house colour is blue! (Of course!!!)
Alex a participé à une marche dans le parc Tai Tam Country avec son école. Il est revenu comme ci-dessous… L’explication ? La couleur de sa maison est le bleu ! (Mais bien sûr !!!)
