2019 started slowly. The kids didn’t want to go back to school after the holidays but I was glad to go back to my routine. I was feeling good after the holidays. They were busy but it felt as if I had crossed a door and left all the bad feelings behind. New year, new me, or more likely my old me back in shape and ready to enjoy life!
2019 commence tranquillement. Les enfants ne voulaient pas retourner à l’école après les vacances mais moi, j’étais heureuse de reprendre ma routine. Les vacances ont été bien occupées mais j’ai l’impression de revivre depuis, d’avoir franchi une porte et laissé tous les mauvais sentiments derrière. Nouvelle année, nouveau moi, ou plus plutôt mon vieux moi, en forme et prêt à profiter de la vie !
Nothing much happened in January. Emilie started tennis and she absolutely loves it! She also tried a gymnastics class that she really liked so she’s signed up to start a course in February. It’s more acrobatics than gymnastics and it suits her well (she learns to do cartwheel, bridge and all kind of jumping). Alex had a bout of flu that lasted less than 2 days. He was miserable and would have preferred going to school rather than feeling rubbish like that! Unfortunately, he was sick on Emilie’s sports’ day so I missed it. But I had promised her that we would have lunch together with Sébastien so we did this (I left Alex alone at home).
Il ne s’est pas passé grand-chose en janvier. Emilie a commencé le tennis et elle adore ça ! Elle a également essayé un cours de gymnastique qu’elle a vraiment aimé. Je l’ai donc inscrite pour un trimestre. C’est plus acrobatique que gymnastique et ça lui va bien (elle apprend à faire de la roue, le pont et de toutes sortes de sauts). Alex a eu une petite grippe qui a duré moins de 2 jours. Il était misérable et aurait préféré aller à l’école plutôt que de se sentir aussi mal ! Malheureusement, il était malade pour la journée du sport d’Emilie, alors je n’ai pas pu y aller. Mais je lui avais promis que nous irions déjeuner ensemble avec Sébastien et c’est ce que nous avons fait (j’ai laissé Alex seul à la maison).
Alex had a football game in Happy Valley, just down from our first flat. I was supposed to leave him there playing but I got hooked by the game and really enjoyed seeing them play.
Alex a eu un match de football à Happy Valley, juste en bas de notre premier appartement. Je devais le laisser jouer mais finalement je suis restée et j’ai vraiment apprécié de les voir jouer.

I’m keeping up with my regular weekly session of kickboxing and it feels good! Leandro, my trainer, came back full of beans from his Christmas holidays and the sessions are harder than last year. But, even if I feel like I’m not going to make it, I give it all and, so far, I survived!
Je continue ma séance hebdomadaire de kickboxing et ça fait du bien ! Leandro, mon entraîneur, est rentré en pleine forme de ses vacances de Noël et les séances sont plus difficiles que l’année dernière. Mais, même si je sens que je ne vais pas y arriver, je donne tout et jusqu’à présent j’ai survécu !
We were invited for a dinner party to Héloïse and Christophe. We took the kids with us. And we all had a really good time. Alex and Charlotte (they are in the same class but rarely talk to each other) had fun playing with the WII and Emilie and Daphnée (who is a year younger) played crazily together. Christophe managed to dress like Sébastien 🙂
Nous avons été invités à un dîner chez Héloïse et Christophe. Nous avons emmené les enfants avec nous. Et nous avons tous passé un très bon moment. Alex et Charlotte (ils sont dans la même classe mais se parlent rarement) se sont amusés avec la WII et Emilie et Daphnée (qui a un an de moins) ont joué follement ensemble. Christophe a réussi à s’habiller comme Sébastien 🙂
Sébastien D. came to visit us. We were all very happy to see him. It was a treat to have him at home. We also invited a family who lives upstairs (38th floor) to share a kings’ cake. They have been here a long time and I met the mum, Emi, in the morning school run. They have 3 girls, the 2 eldest roughly the same age as Alex and Emilie. The girls get along very nicely, Alex was a bit shy. Emi and Marc (her husband) were very nice company. We’re making friends!
Sébastien D. est venu nous rendre visite. Nous étions tous très heureux de le voir. C’était un régal de l’avoir à la maison. Nous avons également invité une famille qui habite au 38ème étage à partager un gâteau des rois. Ils sont ici depuis longtemps et j’ai rencontré la mère, Emi, à l’arrêt du bus scolaire le matin. Ils ont 3 filles, les 2 aînées ont à peu près le même âge qu’Alex et Emilie. Les filles se sont très bien entendues, Alex était un peu timide. Emi et Marc (son mari) étaient de très bonne compagnie. Nous nous faisons des amis !

On the 31st, I went for a long walk in the New Territories with Sarah. We had a great time!
Le 31, j’ai fait une longue promenade dans les Nouveaux Territoires avec Sarah. Nous avons passé un bon moment !
Lung Yeuk Tau Villages – 31-01-2019
On the 1st February, Emilie had a Chinese new year celebration at school and she bought a special dress for the occasion.
Le 1er février, Emilie a célébré le Nouvel An chinois à l’école et elle a acheté une robe spéciale pour l’occasion.
To celebrate Sébastien’s birthday, we had dinner (just the 2 of us) in a Japanese restaurant in Repulse Bay on Saturday evening. On Sunday, the 4 of us went to see a movie and then had lunch in La Crêperie. And then the kids were on holiday AGAIN!
Pour fêter l’anniversaire de Sébastien, nous avons dîné (en amoureux) dans un restaurant japonais de Repulse Bay Beach le samedi soir. Dimanche, nous sommes allés tous les 4 voir un film puis avons déjeuné à La Crêperie. Et puis les enfants étaient ENCORE en vacances !
