That was the last week of holiday so we had to make the most of it!
C’était la dernière semaine de vacances, nous avons essayé d’en profiter !
Monday, we went to Alex’s school. The purpose was for Alex to know where to go when he will start school. Alex guided us to the bus stop, and up to the school. After that, we went back home. In the afternoon, we went to a different part of Central: we went to the French bookshop Parentheses to get a few books and we walked a bit around Hollywood road in SoHo.
Lundi, nous sommes allés à l’école d’Alex. Le but était qu’Alex sache comment y aller à partir de la rentrée. Alex nous a guidés jusqu’à l’arrêt de bus et ensuite jusqu’à l’école. Après cela, nous sommes rentrés à la maison. Dans l’après-midi, nous sommes allés dans une autre partie de Central, à la librairie française Parentheses pour acheter quelques livres. Nous avons ensuite marché un peu autour de la route d’Hollywood à SoHo.

Tuesday, the weather was terrible and I was in a very bad mood. We had to get Alex’s Hong Kong identity card and after that, we just stayed at home and watched a movie (Grown-ups). That was not too bad in the end. Sebastien even thought that the kids were nicer since I arrived.
Mardi, le temps était horrible et j’étais de très mauvaise humeur. Nous sommes allés chercher la carte d’identité d’Hong Kong d’Alex et ensuite, nous sommes restés à la maison et avons regardé un film (Grown-ups). Ce n’était pas une si mauvaise journée en fin de compte. Sébastien m’a même dit qu’il pensait que les enfants étaient plus sympas depuis mon arrivée.
Wednesday, it was still raining and the pool was closed again. We just went for a hot chocolate in the afternoon. Just for the sake of going out for an hour. In the afternoon, Alex and Emilie started a game of Warhammer. Emilie got Alex’s new army and Alex got the Lego army. It took a long time to prepare, but they didn’t play very long.
Mercredi, il pleuvait encore et la piscine était encore fermée. Nous sommes juste allés prendre un chocolat chaud dans l’après-midi, histoire de sortir une heure. Dans l’après-midi, Alex et Emilie ont commencé une partie de Warhammer. Emilie a eu la nouvelle armée d’Alex et Alex a eu l’armée Lego. Cela a pris beaucoup de temps à préparer, mais ils n’ont pas joué très longtemps.
Thursday, Sebastien was on holiday. Emilie insisted that he went with her to her school for the welcome morning. Alex and I stayed lazily at home. In the afternoon we left to go to Macau. I finally received my visa and I needed it to be stamped by the Hong Kong custom. So I needed to go out of the country and back again. The easiest way is to go to Macau. We left in the afternoon and took a ferry there. The crossing takes an hour. It was horrible. I was feeling sick and a passenger was in a very bad shape a few rows in front of us. She wasn’t sea-sick, but she fainted. The paramedics were waiting for her on arrival. we were all slightly green when we arrived and glad to be back on firm land. we found our hotel’s shuttle quite easily. Our hotel was in Coloane, an island south of Macau. We crossed a bridge to go there and we passed through “The City of Dreams”, which is the Las Vegas of Asia. We didn’t do much in the hotel. Just a bit of swimming pool. The weather was not great either and we were tired. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. Alex was a bit sick again, poor kid.
Jeudi, Sébastien était en vacances. Emilie a insisté pour qu’il l’accompagne à son école pour la matinée d’accueil. Alex et moi sommes restés tranquillement à la maison. Dans l’après-midi, nous sommes partis pour Macao. J’ai finalement reçu mon visa et il faut que celui-ci soit tamponné par la douane de Hong Kong. Il me fallait donc sortir du pays et revenir. Le plus simple est d’aller à Macao. Nous sommes partis dans l’après-midi en ferry. La traversée dure une heure. C’était horrible. J’ai eu le mal de mer. Une passagère à quelques rangs devant nous était vraiment mal. Elle n’avait pas le mal de mer, mais elle s’est évanouie. Les ambulanciers l’attendaient à notre arrivée. Nous étions bien contents de retrouver le plancher des vaches ! Nous avons pris la navette de l’hôtel pour aller à Coloane, une île au sud de Macao. Nous avons traversé “the City of Dreams”, qui est le comme Las Vegas en Asie. Nous n’avons pas fait grand-chose à l’hôtel. Juste un peu de piscine. Le temps n’était pas terrible non plus et nous étions fatigués. Nous avons dîné au restaurant de l’hôtel. Alex a encore été allergique à quelque chose, pauvre gamin.
Friday morning, we packed and we went to the Giant Pandas’ Pavilion. The pavilion is in a park and there are a few other animals around. There are a couple of adult pandas who are 10 and 11 years old. They had cubs in June 2006. The “small” pandas (i.e. the 2 year old) are already very big but they are still not as big as adults. Their teeth are very sharp. Thank god, they only eat bamboo! We came back home in the afternoon. The trip back was way more enjoyable and noone was sick!
Vendredi matin, nous avons fait nos valises et nous sommes allés au pavillon des pandas géants. Le pavillon est dans un parc et il y a quelques autres animaux autour. Il y a un couple de pandas adultes qui ont 10 et 11 ans. Ils ont eu des petits en juin 2006. Les «petits» pandas (qui ont 2 ans) sont déjà très gros mais ils ne sont toujours pas aussi gros que les adultes. Leurs dents sont très pointues. Heureusement qu’ils ne mangent que du bambou ! Nous sommes rentrés chez nous dans l’après-midi. Le retour a été bien plus agréable et personne n’a été malade !

Saturday, it was Alex’s turn to visit his school and meet some of the new starters. It was reassuring for me too! We walked back home under the rain so we only played cards in the afternoon. In the evening, Sebastien and I went for a drink in the St Germain bar downstairs. Very French!
Samedi, c’était au tour d’Alex d’aller à son collège en avant-première et de rencontrer quelques-uns des nouveaux élèves. C’était rassurant pour moi aussi ! Nous sommes rentrés à la maison sous la pluie, du coup, nous n’avons fait que jouer aux cartes dans l’après-midi. Dans la soirée, Sébastien et moi sommes allés boire un verre au bar St Germain en bas. Très français !
Sunday, we went to the Victoria Peak. It was completely in the clouds and the pictures are eerie. The clouds lifted while we were there so we could see the amazing views. In the afternoon, after the regular cards games and reading Harry Potter, Sebastien and I went for a stroll in Times Squares shopping centre. It’s always a treat to be able to go out just the two of us.
Dimanche, nous sommes allés au Victoria Peak. Il était complètement dans les nuages et les photos sont spéciales. La brume s’est levée pendant que nous y étions révélant les vues spectaculaires de la ville. Dans l’après-midi, après les jeux de cartes et la lecture d’Harry Potter, Sébastien et moi sommes allés nous promener dans le centre commercial de Times Squares. C’est toujours un plaisir de pouvoir sortir tous les deux.

In the evening, a gigantic moth got stuck on our window (we are at the 23rd floor). Very impressive!
Dans la soirée, un gigantesque papillon de nuit s’est collé à notre fenêtre (nous sommes au 23ème étage). Très impressionnant !
